How to Cook Thanksgiving Dinner with a Drone

Watch Autel Robotics' X-Star Premium Drone deep fry a turkey and prepare all the fixings needed for a Thanksgiving feast.

Drones can be used for a lot of things. Recreational flying, photography, filmmaking, search and rescue, and drone delivery are a few applications that immediately come to mind.

Cooking Thanksgiving dinner can be added to that list. Drone maker Autel Robotics posted a YouTube (watch above) that shows a “chef” using its flagship X-Star Premium Drone to prepare all the fixings for a Thanksgiving feast.

The X-Star drone uses a hook attachment to lower a small turkey into a deep fryer in the chef’s backyard, hovering above while the turkey cooks.

The chef also uses the drone’s propellers to peel potatoes and carrots and chop carrots and parsley. The propellers are then replaced with four egg beaters to simultaneously whip up gravy, mashed potatoes, and dessert. Talk about efficiency. The drone then uses a knife to butter some rolls.

Like Autel says in the video, we don’t recommend trying this at home, especially if you’re name is Enrique Iglesias. Using a drone to cook Thanksgiving dinner is a fun concept, but it’s quite messy and dangerous. Notice the chef is wearing a “Medieval-armor-like-glove” throughout to protect his hand.

Autel’s video reminds me of another stunt, which you should not try, where a drone roasted a turkey. In December 2015, Austin Haughwout, a teenager from Connecticut, built a flamethrower drone that he used to roast a holiday turkey. You may remember Austin got in some trouble earlier that summer for his gun-firing drone.
