Watch: HoLLiE Robot Bartender Serves 280 Drinks at Party

Apparently robots and alcohol go hand in hand.

MIT recently showed off its “Beerbots” that will fetch you beers while you continue to sit on the couch. OK, the project actually intended to figure out how to make robots better work together in the human world that’s full of so much uncertainty. That’s no easy task, so why not add alcohol into the process. I’m sure the MIT researchers needed a stiff drink at some point.

And you’re probably already aware of Monsieur, the AI robot bartender that can mix thousands of drinks all with the swipe of a finger.

Now we have HoLLiE, a robot bartender with two anthropomorphic, five-finger hands and arms that move independently of one another. At a recent Stallwächter-Party in Berlin, HoLLiE helped make over 280 cocktails. Her right hand picks up empty glasses and the left holds up the glasses as the alcohol is poured from a dispenser.

There was a human bartender helping out as needed, adding more alcohol to someone’s drink if needed, and replenishing alcohol and other supplies when they ran low.

Guests ordered cocktails via tablet, selecting either a gin-based fruit cocktail or a whiskey lemonade. So HoLLiE’s drink selection was obviously quite limited, but it’s still impressive to see nonetheless.

Let’s get the fine folks behind HoLLiE to team up with MIT and Monsieur and then we’ll be onto something.
