The open-source PLEN2 is a bipedal walking robot that stand about 8 inches tall. PLEN2 can be programmed via a web browser or controlled via a smartphone. There’s even text-based programming. PLEN2 comes in different forms such as DIY and Assembly kits that you need to put together. But we’ll be sending the Finished Model that is already fully assembled.

PLEN2’s 18 servo motors are controlled by an Arduino-compatible controller with an Atmel ATmega32U4 microcontroller and a clock rate of 16Mhz. Besides servo motors, the printed body hosts a six-axis gyroscope and accelerometer sensor, a Bluetooth module and the battery.

PLEN2, which launched on Kickstarter in March 2015, is the follow-up to PLEN, a humanoid robot that was released in 2007. PLEN2 is smaller than the original version and has a friendlier price. The Kickstarter campaign for PLEN2 looked to raise $40,000 but ended up raising $66,420 from 187 backers.
